Mr. Christie Alwis is a Professional Engineer worked as the Chief Network Officer in Sri Lanka Telecom. He has counted more than 30 years of service in the field of telecommunication He has worked as a Senior Expert in ITU, APT as well as in Commonwealth Telecommunication Organization in countries Maldives, Mongolia, and Uganda.
He has a wide knowledge on the following fields.
- Planning and maintenance of switching, transmission and outside the plant
- Billing and Collection
- Regulation And Interconnection
- Planning and maintaining of Radio Access Network. He was the pionier member in introducing CDMA technology to SLT Network.
- Customer Service function such as
(a). Handling Customer complains
(b). Operator service and call centre
Extra Activities
He has been a Visiting Lecturer for the Engineering Undergraduates in Universities of Moratuwa and Sabaragamuwa, Sri Lanka in the subject of Telecommunications Engineering and up to date entrusted the same. He has counted around 25 years of services as a Lecturer.
He chaired the Financial and Administrative committee of SEA-ME-WE 4 project, from the inception. SMW4 project was invested by 16 parties, amounting to 500 million us $. This project envisage in commissioning, 20,000 Km under sea optical fiber cable, laid from Singapore to France.He was responsible for devising Financial Procedures for the smooth functioning of the project Further developed SEA-ME-WE 4 and SEA-ME-WE 3 general websites to be used for managing and marketing work of the respective consortiums.
